There are several ways to get off the ground in Lake County.  Crazy Creek Gliders offers glider rides and instruction north of Middletown, Small plane scenic flights and instruction are available at Lampson Field near Lakeport.  Float plane instruction and fights are available seasonally in Lakeport.  Hang gliders take off from Elk Mountain in the Mendocino National Forest.  Seaplanes convene annually in Lakeport each September at the West Coast Splash In. http://www.aero.com/publications/norcal/art0903.htm
